Taking a pause

Home Ground is taking a pause. After six years of incredible work with our communities, we will be taking some time to figure out ‘where to from here’ – who we are serving, and how we are serving them.
Our focus has always been on helping to cultivate a place to belong for women who are in the justice system. With wider changes to the prison environment and increasing challenges for whānau in the community right now, we need some space for reflection to figure out where we can best make positive change.
To have impact in the long term we need to work across justice spaces and in communities – but we need proper resourcing to do this effectively and authentically.

We'll be back next year
We’re stoked to share that we will continue to nurture small-scale community activations from our base at Newtown Park over the summer, because everyone needs a party! Keep an eye on our social media to stay up to date with what’s happening and when, and come find us with Te Toi Mahana at Newtown Festival on 8 March 2026.
In March 2026 we'll be back in touch with our community on our plans for the coming year and to celebrate our impact so far at Home Ground. Home Ground believes that women are changemakers. By investing in women’s healing, we unlock positive change for whānau and communities. We are committed to this kaupapa for the long term, no matter the shape of our projects.
Watch our short film
While we reflect and pause, we’re excited to share with you a short film which captures some of the incredible impact that our team has had over the past few years. It’s a testament to the creativity and commitment of our community, and the resilience and courage of the women and whānau that we are privileged to work with.
