Home Ground and our COVID-19 plan

As Aotearoa adjusts to the new COVID-19 Protection Framework (The Traffic Light System), Home Ground has also created our own policy on how we can work and get together for our future projects.

We've outlined two of the most important parts of our policy here:

Home Ground crew vaccination status

The Home Ground Team are all fully vaccinated. We need to be to continue our work in Arohata Prison, and in the community. We also ask all of our collaborators and artists who work in our space, or in prison to be vaccinated.

It's really tough to have had these conversations, but this is a choice we have made and how we believe we can help keep our community safe.

Can I participate in a Home Ground workshop if I’m not vaccinated?

The short answer is yes - in our brand new online classroom! We have our Home Ground Online Classroom accessible from anywhere in Aotearoa!

We are actively campaigning for everyone to get access to our programme, and in 2022 we are even more committed to advocate for increased access to technology and to work hard to close the digital divide.

If you would rather work with us face to face, and on a group project in the Pasifika Hub, you will have to be vaccinated, and have a vaccination passport. If you want support in doing this, we can help you to do what works for you.

The spaces we run our projects and workshops from have a vaccination passport requirement.

We’ve used the end of this year as an adjustment period, these new ways of working will start in 2022.

We will keep striving to connect and support all wāhine to carve out and create positive space in our communities.

Kia kaha, Kia māia, Kia manawanui.
Be strong, be brave, be steadfast
