Join Us: Home Ground is Looking for a Community Connector

Updated: Jun 28

Do you believe in the power of creativity, community, and connection to transform lives?

Home Ground is a creative wellbeing initiative based in Wellington, working with women who have experienced incarceration or are involved in the justice system. Through collaborative arts-based projects — theatre, music, writing, photography and more — we create space for women to explore identity, connect with others, and strengthen their sense of self and belonging.

We’re on the lookout for a Community Connector to walk alongside wāhine in our programmes. This is a flexible, contractor-based role with hours across multiple projects throughout the year — and extra opportunities in artist support and training if you’re keen.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in mental health, addictions, social work, or the justice sector

  • Understands trauma-informed practice

  • Brings strong knowledge of Tikanga Māori and Pasifika values

  • Can support, hold space, and uplift wāhine with aroha and integrity

  • Believes in the power of creative practice as a tool for healing and empowerment

  • Knows how to balance professionalism with humour, humanity, and heart

You’ll work closely with our Creative Director to support the wellbeing of participants throughout the process. If you have lived or professional experience in any of these areas and want to be part of something meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.
